At Miombo (adjacent to The Hwange National Park), African Encounter, a local conservation organisation, have linked with the Hwange Conservation Society, in order to carry out various conservation initiatives in the area. Their involvement ranges from snare sweeps and snare removal, bush clearing, game counts and spoor transect counts, to the tracking of collared animals, kill site investigations, and data collection for local wildlife research projects. In order to continue the good work of this project they require the assistance of volunteers. Kumuka, in association with African Encounter, have put together this 7 day programme as a way to encourage sustainable practices and to continue to give our passengers the power to give back to the communities they visit. We hope, with continued cooperation, to see rehabilitation of local ecosystems and a harmony where local communities are able to create a sustainable future for themselves without further impact on their surrounding environment.
